What is adjustor or adjuster?

An adjuster, also known as an insurance adjustor, is a professional who evaluates insurance claims made by policyholders on behalf of insurance companies. The adjuster investigates the claim and determines the amount that the insurance company will pay to settle the claim. They may analyze and interpret policy language, communicate with policyholders, witnesses, and others involved in the claim, and may even negotiate a settlement with policyholders or their legal representatives. Adjusters work in various fields, ranging from property and casualty insurance to workers' compensation claims. They typically possess strong communication and analytical skills and must be familiar with laws, regulations, and policies that govern insurance claims. They are responsible for ensuring that policyholders receive a fair settlement for their claims and that insurance companies limit their liability through accurate analysis and assessment.
